On June28-30 the children and I went camping.
Yes, I went camping without Newel. My sister-in-law Kristen got tired of all of the construction around her neighborhood so she decided to head up to the mountains for almost a week of camping. My in-laws went as well. So, I wasn't camping entirely by myself, but Newel wasn't there. I set up the tent, with a little help of Dave...a family friend.
It was a lot of fun.
The children just wanted to play all day long. I was worried that they would wander off too far, but they didn't. Our campsite had all that they wanted/needed.
There were various sizes of boulders to climb.

Plenty of dirt and worms to play with. My favorite quote was when Arden and Beatrix were digging up worms and she kept handing the to Arden.
Arden said to her, "What do I look like a worm sitter? I'm a day care of worms."

Lots of digging and discovering. We finally convinced the children to go on a little walk, at least around the campground.
Since it was the middle of the week, there was barely anyone there.

There were streams of super cold water running through the campground.
Arden really liked making his pine fish aquarium, out of pine needles. Lots of hours of entertainment. Also, they had a lot of fun throwing pebbles and pine cones on the streams and watching them.
I counted how many hours Arden played and from the morning till night, he played for 12 hours straight and never got bored or complained. He was in heaven.
Mayita, surprisingly also just loved to discover the world around her.
We weren't supposed to feed the wildlife, but with so many little children, food was dropped
or left around. The wildlife had a feast.
