I love summer! We've been busy enjoying life. I don't feel like we've done a ton of stuff. But we've been busy. Arden took a Bugs class in June. He absolutely loved the class! It was a long drive from our house, but it was worth it. While Arden was in class, Maya and I hung out at the park or did some shopping, mostly
groceries. In the afternoons, we went to swimming class for Arden. Then, swimming class got switched to morning time, so we were busy most weekdays from 9:30 to 1PM. After taking the same level class for about the 5th or 6th time...I can't keep count...I finally gave up and decided Arden wasn't ready to learn how to swim. We're giving it a break and perhaps in the fall, after he starts school, he will take the class again. He had a hard time concentrating and lacks a bit of coordination, just like his mommy =)The kids have spent numerous hours playing outdoors. Arden continues to be obsessed with insects and as you can see in the photo, he can handle them well. Also, he's become an excellent fly catcher...yes, he can catch flies...gross, but impressive.
Since I hurt my knee, instead of running, I've been going on walks with the kids on the stroller. We go with a friend about once or twice a week. That's been fun...summertime walks.
Arden and Maya have been sleeping in the same roo
m for many months now. They love each other so much, but are really naughty in the room. They basically tear the room apart. They keep each other up very late at night and try to sleep on the same bed. They've only succeeded twice. Once, Maya fell asleep on Arden's bed, but we found her on the floor right before we went to bed. Apparently, she fell off his bed, but continued sleeping. Another night, Maya was so tired, she fell asleep right away...since Arden didn't have anyone to play with, he crawled into her bed and fell asleep with her. Don't they look so cute?Around midnight, we had to separate them...they kept running into each other and I could hear Maya complaining.
Newel has been working really hard at growing a mustache. He eventually had to shave it off.One Saturday morning, Newel needed to go to work (this is not a common occurrence) so he decided to take Arden to work with him.

Arden was pretty excited about that.
Here they are, ready to go to work.

Arden and I have done some Kindergarten Practice while Maya naps. Most of the time it's good...he's reluctant, but I try to make it as fun a possible. I enjoy the one on one time with him.

Does no one dare comment about Newel's hairy condition. I think he's become a movie star on the side. I know I've seen him as a character actor somewhere!
