| El Palacio...government offices |
Since we were running out of pesos, we headed over to the Zocalo (the center of Cuerna) to an exchange house. Since we were there, we walked around and my kids were temporarily involved in politics...it was election time in Mexico, so there were a lot of different party supporters. At that moment Maya and Arden were supporters of some guy named Morales or something like it. You know all they liked were the flags.

That night we headed over to the church while Margarita was in genealogy class and I was practicing the piano.

Later, the guys showed up to play basketball, while the children ran around, and some of the women chatted or played volleyball. Of course Arden found some gigantic insects and a herd of children followed him while he played with them. He has such a neat talent...to catch insects and to distract a dozen kids with them. Chinito even let him bring the giant green insect home. I felt sorry for the insect...he was loved too much and died the following day.

Oh, I forgot to mention that life here is at a different rythim than in the US. We eat lunch at 2 or 3PM and it consists of a huge meal. Dinner is like at 9PM and it consists of a lighter meal, like a taco or bread and milk for the kids. I'm still working on the adjustments. I think I'm eating too much at lunch and at dinner time. Also, I have a weakness for their 'pan dulce' or sweet breads. It's funny the other day I came home from the grocery store. Maya had stayed home with Margarita and didn't know where I had gone. However, as soon as she heard me mention the word Chedraui, she asked me, "Did you bring me some bread?" She also loves to eat their pan dulce.
Also, kids go to bed super late and most of them take naps in the afternoon. So staying up until 10:30PM on a school night, even if you're 5 years old, is completely normal.
