I didn't want to over the top in preparations...like spending 10 hours planning and preparing for a party that's only 1 1/2 hours long.
This year we had a family FHE party. Well, first we met up with Newel in Orem for a birthday lunch, just the 4 of us... and to pick up a pinata for the party.

That afternoon we headed over to Kristen's for the celebration.
Maya was so excited about her birthday, she couldn't hold still. So Grandma held her for just a moment to take a snapshot of the Birthday Girl.
Most of her cousins were there and that made it a PARTY!
We had a yummy pizza dinner per Maya's request.

After our feast, we busted out the pinata.
It was kind of funny how the pinata was her height. All of the children were excited to break this baby apart.
I was nervous someone would get whacked with the stick, but no one did. The older children and adults were blindfolded. Everyone who wanted a turn got one. Actually, they got more than one turn...it was a sturdy pinata. It has to be if it's designed for a Spanish party.
If I remember correctly, Troy was the one who finally broke that baby. It was so fun watching them run around picking up candy.
After the pinata, we had cake and then she opened her presents. It was an exciting day!
The following day, I made arrangements to have pre-school at our house, so we could have a small party with her new pre-school friends. We ate cupcakes and it happened that our lesson on that day was about growing and having birthdays.

We also invited her friend Stella for the party. That was another exciting day for Maya.
